The Family

Sweet Staff

Most of our design team is headquartered outside of Washington, D.C., and we've got the beginnings of a design squad checking out our new Durham office. It's fantastic that we're hiring the right people to join our team and creating amazing Web solutions for myriad clients who keep coming back for more, and who are telling their friends about us, too.

Awesome doesn't begin to describe how I feel about Viget, but it's the best word I can come up with to describe the designers, the designs we do, and the company in general."

Killer Designs

We're not a chop shop, and we're proud of it. That's not to say we don't occasionally turn around some amazing art in record time, of course, but the commitment to quality is never compromised. That's great – and inspiring – to us designers, who know we have the full backing of the company to flex our creative muscles and impress the heck out of everyone while meeting deadlines.

Countless Opportunities

Your voice is heard, and your work is seen. Built into Viget are rewarding aspects like immediate impact awards, spot bonuses, and extras for client referrals. Plus, you can go to conferences or workshops, so your opportunities extend beyond the office, too.

First of all, we never settle for mediocrity just to meet tight deadlines. We all work hard and pull together, and we are vocal about what's working and what isn't so that processes can even better meet that commitment to excellence. That's pretty easy to do, because there's a serious commitment to our open-door policy (for just this reason).

But, secondly, our work is noticed, and it doesn't get lost in the larger process of delivering the product. This is unique in that we truly have a voice in exercising our opinions about the kind of work we're doing – we're definitely not cogs in a giant wheel of production. Each site is unique, and we are expected to report regularly and contribute to raising the bar of Viget Labs with each passing day. When we go the extra mile, the client and the company recognize it, and that contributes to cultivating a level of fulfillment that's priceless.

We also help to accomplish the goal of being leaders in design by submitting our work for various reviews, attending and networking at design and Web conferences around the country, presenting our work whenever possible, and generally being active in the regional community by balancing our big clients with start-ups and pro bono work.

Outstanding Culture

Don't you want to be someplace that has Third Third Thursday team building activities (Go-Karts, anyone?); sponsors Free Lunch Fridays that double as weekly staff meetings; organizes occasional Hump Day Happy Hours; exercises LabShares to promote presentation skills and foster knowledge sharing; and supports an Internal blog and wiki? Shall we continue?

Yes? Well ok, then.

Third Third Thursdays: On the third Thursday of every third month, we all congregate to do some team building exercise, which generally isn't team building like you'd see on "The Office." It's more competitive and fun, like Go-Karting or paintball. Overall, it gives the staff members the opportunity to take an afternoon and be with their colleagues in a really social environment that isn't forced and that doesn't suck.

Free Lunch Fridays: Every Friday, the staff gathers in the conference room to enjoy some yummy food and to talk about the state of the company from sales through projects through recruiting. Also, it's during these FLFs that we, every few months, go over the quarterly progress of the company. It gives the entire staff a chance to relax, get on the same page, and spend about an hour learning about what's going on beyond their individual projects on which they're working.

Knowledge Sharing: Whether it's a FLF LabShare in which a staffer gives a short presentation on some cool new Web site or on some recent project, or our internal blog, or our specialized Wiki, we exercise the importance of knowledge sharing. Everyone is encouraged to get involved, but generally it doesn't take much persuading – it's fun, and it makes us stronger as a company.

The Rest Of The Family

We started with just a handful of people working in a basement seven years ago, and, since then, we've grown to more than 20 – and we're still growing thanks to solid ethics and unwavering integrity, a clear purpose, the right people who do tremendous work each day, and a *true* commitment to staff and clients.

We're pretty much equally defined by project managers, developers (we're standardizing on Ruby on Rails), designers, and strategists. Within those four main labs, we have frontend developers, production specialists, SEO and email marketing specialists, a copywriter, system administrators, technical managers and marketing managers, and, of course, our engagement managers.

But what makes the staff so exceptional is that each has been hired because he or she *fits* here at Viget. It's not just about filling the job, or about getting the job done – it's about finding the right person to step into some big shoes.

What size do you wear? And are you ready to lace up?

Get to know us at www.viget.com and through our Four Labs blog. Also, we're hiring more cool people for great jobs -- check out the opportunities.
