Vigorous Workouts Enter the Vigegym

We all face daily challenges at Viget. Tough clients. Overlapping deadlines. The never-ending Banana or Apple Conundrum.

Most of these are mental challenges. But some of us also face hard physical challenges at work, in the form of the twice-a-day Vigegym. (Alas, not this kind of physical challenge).

For five minutes in the morning and again in the afternoon, we do exercises like leg lifts, planks, wall sits, and crunches. Then there’s the dreaded Push-Up War (an exercise-themed version of the classic card game War). Thankfully, Push-Up War only lasts a few minutes. But -- cue sappy background music -- the health benefits and memories will last a lifetime.

We asked some of the workout regulars for the first thing that comes to mind when they think of Vigegym:

Khanh Stenberg, Office Manager: “It's a quick, fun, easy way to get a little muscle toning in during the work day. None of us do it in hopes of one day entering a body building competition (although Steve probably could), we do it because it's a five-minute change of scenery from our computer screens, we get to hang out with our sweet co-workers, and we get a little stronger because of it.”

Tom Osborne, Design Director and Vigegym Mastermind: “Strength training at work means more time for cardio at the gym. Plus, it gets me off my butt when I've been sitting all day. And it's fun to do with your work mates.”

Minh Tran, Web Designer: “Its a good way for me to step away from my computer for a few minutes so I don’t burn my eyes out.”

Elliott Munoz, Web Designer: “My first thought is ‘I should really exercise more.’ Last thought is ‘I wonder if I have time to run out and get a milkshake from Elevation Burger.’

Dan Tello, Front-End Developer: “Competition.”
