Ms. Pac-Man Nerding Out with Ms. Pac-Man

Ms. Pac-Man made a comeback at the office in 2010 when the HQ front-end development team pulled out our beautiful, original 1981 cocktail table game unit and started playing regularly. When Trevor commented to Blake that it would be cool if they could just tweet their scores and have them logged, Blake hardly took a breath before registering vigetmspacman on twitter. That night he built the core functionality, and the site has evolved from there.

Lest you think we're slacking off instead of doing work, Blake notes that they often hash out problems and code challenges over a game. And, building the site itself has been a great learning experience for him.  He says, "I've picked up a new language (Python) and framework (Django) in no small part thanks to the app, gotten to dig into server-side caching, and learned the ins and outs of Twitter's API.  I've even gotten to contribute to an open source project -- OAuth2 for Python to enable support for Twitter authentication."
